Minutes for Sunday, September 9, 2007
Members Present: Jamie Whartenby, Angela Brazeal, John Yang, Cari Mack, Deborah Bright, Julie Yang, Jeff & Shirley Nicholson.
Location: Washington Irving Cove Campsite #5 at Keystone Lake, Oklahoma
President Jamie Whartenby called the meeting to order after the potluck lunch at the overnight campsite of Yang and Nicholson’s. It was determined that with proxy a quorum was present in order for the meeting to proceed. Ms. Brazeal read the minutes from the last meeting and they were approved as read. The treasurer’s report shows $3,305.86 balance in the operations account as of 8/31/07. The financial report was approved as read.
Shirley Nicholson passed out the current “Application for Certification” and there was discussion of the terms and conditions. Members were referred to the action of the last meeting where the guidelines were reviewed and approved. Questions were raised about what constitutes a "membership” and what levels of membership may be recognized. The discussions was tabled until the next meeting or until more members are present.
Next was election of officers for the 2007-2008 term. Angela Brazeal placed the name of Jamie Whartenby in nomination for President and Jeff Nicholson seconded. The vote was unanimous. John Wang nominated Angela Brazeal for Vice President. Jeff Nicholson seconded and the vote was unanimous. Jamie Whartenby nominated Deborah Bright for Secretary-Treasurer, Angela Brazeal seconded and the vote was unanimous. The new officers are as follows:

Deborah Bright - Secretary Treasurer
A discussion followed about offering another workshop and it was agreed that workshops would carry NCCAOM (National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine) continuing education credits (CCU’s) so that eligible members may use the credits toward their continuing certification requirements. Shirley Nicholson agreed to find out how to get a workshop approved by NCCAOM. Some suggestions for a workshop included homeopathy, Ayurvedic medicine, western pathology & indications of conditions requiring conventional treatments and others.
Angela Brazeal made a motion and Shirley Nicholson seconded that that the next meeting be held in Oklahoma City at the home of Amit Gumman (with his permission) and that we ask him to give a talk about Ayurvedic medicine. The motion passed. The next meeting will be held in OKC on December 9, 2007 at noon with potluck as usual. The location is pending a response from Amit.
A motion passed to reverse the OKAA logo on the website at the suggestion of a member not present.
The officers agreed that the OKAA Certification board would be appointed prior to the next meeting and several names were presented for their consideration.
