Qualifications for OKAA certification

* This is what previous President Mark Mills came up with and we wanted to post it on the internet so members could look at it and let us know what they think.

1) To receive OKAA certification to practice acupuncture, a person must document
a: Current active status as a Diplomate in Acupuncture of the NCCAOM.
b: Successful completion of a NACSCAOM accredited acupuncture program.
c: Successful completion of an NCCAOM or OKAA approved Clean Needle Technique Program.

2) The OKAA shall waive the requirements of subsection (1) and shall grant certification to practice acupuncture to a resident applicant, residing in the state of Oklahoma on (December 31, 2006)? who presents evidence satisfactory to the OKAA no later than December 31, 2006 of completion of one of the following routes to eligibility.

ROUTES TO ELIGIBILITY:

1) Formal acupuncture education-
* ? hours of training from any NACSCAOM or OKAA approved acupuncture school in the United States.
* Graduation from any foreign acupuncture school which is government approved and meets NACSCAOM standards.

2) Apprenticeship-
* 2000 hours of documented training with an approved preceptor, either NCCAOM of OKAA certified.

3) Previous practice-
* 2 years of professional practice with 500 documented patient visits yearly.

In addition to completion of one of these routes to eligiblity, completion of a Clean Needle Technique program was specified above in subsection (1) part (C) will not be required.
